Naaman Story, Jordan River - Part 2 - Wished Land!

We find the story of a man name Naaman. Naaman was a Syrian. He was a soldier, a soldier whose honor and great valor had earned him the position of "captain of the host of the king of Syria" . God had used Naaman as an instrument of punishment against the nation of Israel. But Naaman was a leper. Leprosy is a bacterial disease that attacks the nerves in the hand, feet, and face. It horribly disfigures its victims. The resulting nerve damage causes loss of sensation in the extremities, eyes, and eyelids. Because of lack of sensation the leper can be unaware of injuries to his fingers, toes, hands, or feet, resulting in the infection and loss of those members. Because of the loss of sensation in the eyes and eyelids the person does not blink and his eyes dry out, or gets dust in his eyes without knowing it causing infection, both resulting in loss of sight. Today there is treatment for the disease, but in Naaman's day there was no medical cure. Naaman was sentenced to a long lingering death.

Business Attire - Emirates Open Day / Assessment Day

“It is an interesting question how far men would retain their relative rank if they were divested of their clothes.”

Do you ever wonder where all the dress rules have gone? Depending on when and where you are on any given business day, the words "distant past" might come to mind. It's difficult to decide if people don't know what to wear to work or if they have lost sight of the relevance of appearance to professional success.

How you dress depends on four factors: the industry in which you work, the job you have within that industry, the geographic area in which you live; and most importantly, what your client expects to see.

Proper Business Attire for Men

In men's clothing, fashion does not change significantly from season to season but proper business attire is about being professional and not about being fashionable. It's about presenting yourself in a way that makes your clients feel comfortable and confident with you. Dressing for success is still the rule. The professional businessman should keep in mind these few points when deciding what to wear to work.

Choose a conservative suit in navy, black or gray either pinstripe or solid. The quality of the material speaks as loudly as the color and can make the difference between sleaze and suave.

A solid white or blue dress shirt with long sleeves offers the most polished look. The more pattern and color you add, the more the focus is on your clothing, rather than your professionalism.

Ties should be made of silk or a silk-like fabric. Avoid the cartoon characters and go for simple and subtle if you want to enhance your credibility.

Socks should be calf-length or above. Make sure they match not only what you are wearing, but also each other. A quick glance in good light before heading out the door can save embarrassment later in the day. Check for holes as well if you'll be going through airport security and removing your shoes.

Shoes should without question be conservative, clean and well polished. Lace-up shoes are the choice over slip-ons or flip flops. Don't think for a minute that people don't notice shoes. Many people will look at your feet before your face.

Belts need to match or closely coordinate with your shoes. Once again, quality counts.

Keep jewelry to a minimum. In a time when men sport gold necklaces, bracelets and earrings, the business professional should limit himself to a conservative watch, a wedding band and maybe his college ring.

Personal hygiene is part of the success equation. Freshly scrubbed wins out over heavily fragranced any day of the week. Save the after-shave for after hours, but never the shave itself.

The finishing touch for the business man is his choice of accessories: briefcase, portfolio and pen. When it comes to sealing the deal, a top of the line suit, a silk tie and a good pair of leather shoes can lose their affect when you pull out the ball point pen you picked up in the hotel meeting room the day before.

Proper Business Attire for Women

A woman should be noticed for who she is and her professional skills rather than for what she wears. Her business wear should be appropriate for her industry and her position or title within the industry.

Start with a skirted suit or pants suit for the most conservative look. A skirted suit is the most professional. With a few exceptions, dresses do not offer the same credibility unless they are accompanied by matching jackets.

Skirts should be knee-length or slightly above or below. Avoid extremes. A skirt more than two inches above the knee raises eyebrows and questions.

Pants should break at the top of the foot or shoe. While Capri pants and their fashion cousins that come in assorted lengths from mid-calf to ankle are the latest trend, they are out of place in the conservative business environment.

Blouses and sweaters provide color and variety to woman's clothing, but they should be appealing rather than revealing. Inappropriate necklines and waistlines can give the wrong impression.

Women need to wear hose in the business world. Neutral or flesh-tone stockings are the best choices. Never wear dark hose with light-colored clothing or shoes. Keep an extra pair of stockings in your desk drawer unless the hosiery store is next door or just down the street from the office.

Faces, not feet, should be the focal point in business so chose conservative shoes. A low heel is more professional than flats or high heels. In spite of current fashion and the sandal rage, open-toed or backless shoes are not office attire. Not only are sandals a safety hazard, they suggest a certain official agenda.

When it comes to accessories and jewelry, less is once again more. Keep it simple: one ring per hand, one earring per ear. Accessories should reflect your personality, not diminish your credibility.

Business attire is different from weekend and evening wear. Investing in a good business wardrobe is an investment in your professional future. For those who think it's not what you wear but who you are that creates success, give that some more thought. Business skills and experience count, but so does personal appearance and that all-important first impression.

Live your dreams

One of the most important rules of happiness in life is to do what you love. But discovering that dream job and what you are meant to do in life isn't always so easy.

Take a look at the happiest, most successful people on this planet: they are all doing something they love, creating something they believe in, living a life of purpose and passion. Do that, and it doesn't matter how much money you make.

But what do you do if you don't know what you want to do? If you don't know what your dream is? This is a common problem, and many people wander through much of their life without discovering their passion, and go from job to job, unfulfilled and miserable.

If that's you, don't give up. What follows is a list of suggestions that will help you discover your dream, and start on the road to living that dream. They're things that have worked for me and many others I've studied, talked to, interviewed and admired.

While you don't need to do every step below, they are all ways for your to spend time thinking about your passion in life, your dreams, and how to accomplish them. If you spend time thinking about your dreams, you are taking the first step towards making them a reality.

The first step is to give this stuff some thought.

Are you living your dreams?

If the answer is no, then I ask "why not?" Life is short, and you never know when it will come to an end. Do you really want to say that you lived a life of unfulfilled dreams?

Have you ever asked someone how they are doing and their response was…"Oh, just living the dream!"

What do they mean…they are living the dream?

Have you thought about that response?

Well… I have thought about that response and have actually used that response when answering someone..

Why have I used that response? Because the life I’m living right now is what I have created…in my dreams. If I don’t like it I must change my thoughts and my "dream."
What is so great is that you have the ability to do the same in your own life… you have the ability to live whatever "dream" you project in your mind.

How do you wish to live? Do you want to live in poverty or do you want to live in abundance? Do you want to work at a job your entire life dreading each day or do you want to be passionate about your life’s work? Do you want to have loving and meaningful relationships or do you want to be unfulfilled your entire life?

I've been getting emails questioning me about joining Emirates Cabin Crew. Since then I am heading for a whole post about it.

Fans of Emirates. Normally, It is very hard, I mean REALLY HARD, to get the job offer. I am serious about that. You must know that before expend any money on any Open Day adventure worldwide. It is almost impossible, ok?

How long is the contract and is it binding?
In accordance with current Dubai Government regulations, the contract is a three-year non-binding one, renewable with agreement by Emirates management and crew member. There is a probationary period of six months commencing from the date of joining.
Is health care provided?
Emirates provides all Cabin Crew with a comprehensive package for medical and dental services at the designated Emirates Clinics.
Does Emirates provide any insurance cover?
All Cabin Crew are insured on a 24-hour worldwide basis under life insurance and personal accident insurance policies. The company’s policy on insurance is detailed in The Emirates Group Employee Handbook, which is issued to every employee upon joining the company.
Does Emirates offer a pension scheme?
Emirates provides a non-contributory end of service benefit (EOSB) (a lump sum of money assessed according to salary scale) on completion of the term of your contract.
What is the pay structure/allowance?
Your pay is made up of three components: a fixed basic salary, an hourly pay for operated flights and an overseas allowance.
Pay Scale for Grade II (entry level):
Basic monthly salary, tax free in the UAE - AED3,915 (1 US$=approx AED 3.673).
Flying pay on an hourly basis - AED53.50 paid between chocks off and chocks on. Flying pay is paid in the month following accrual.
Meal allowances are paid in the currency of the country in which a night stop is made. The company provides free transport to and from the airport and hotel accommodation.
When may I apply for concessional travel?
Rebate travel concessions apply after six months’ service. An unlimited number of ID90 subload tickets and ID50 firm tickets on Emirates only are available for yourself. Limited concessionary travel facilities are available for immediate family members.
How much leave will I be entitled to?
Cabin Crew are entitled to 30 calendar days’ leave per year based on availability of leave slots. One firm annual leave ticket is provided free of charge to your country of origin. After three years of service this may be taken to any destination on the Emirates network.
What is accommodation like and is it expensive? Can you live out and still get an allowance?
Emirates provides most of their employees with either company accommodation or living out allowance (the living out allowance is at the company’s discretion). Emirates provides all new crew with high standard shared accommodation within Dubai. They are all fully air-conditioned. Most have recreational facilities and access to gyms, pools etc.
Can my family come to visit and stay with me in company accommodation?
Family members can stay in your apartment in accordance with the Emirates accommodation regulations.
Can different genders share accommodation?
Dubai is an Islamic country. Men and women cannot share accommodation unless they are married.
How often & how soon can I go home?
All employees are on probation for the first six months of their service. Travel to your home country could, however, take place during this time but, more likely, you would return home on annual leave after six months. We fly to over 100 destinations and you could be rostered to your home country, based on operational requirements.
How many job applications does Emirates receive? How many Cabin Crew are working with Emirates at present?
Emirates receives an average of 15,000 applications for Cabin Crew per month. Over 10,000 Cabin Crew are currently working for the airline.
Can I attend a Cabin Crew interview in any country where Emirates recruitment campaigns are being held?
Yes. If Emirates is not conducting interviews in your home country, you may be invited to attend the selection process in a nearby country or you may choose to attend the Open Information Days as advertised. Should you choose to attend, expenses incurred will not be reimbursed.
Do you need previous experience as Cabin Crew?
Previous Cabin Crew experience is a benefit but not essential.
What does Emirates look for in Cabin Crew?
Irrespective of nationality, we look for a positive attitude, confidence, flexibility, maturity, a friendly disposition, and importantly a genuine passion to help others and to provide quality service. As the job can be physically demanding, we also look for those with resilience and a determination to continually perform well.
Do you need another language? What is the predominantly spoken language?
In Dubai, Arabic and English are widely spoken. Candidates need fluency in spoken and written English. Fluency in another language is an advantage. There are a number of language institutions in Dubai if you wish to learn another language.
What is the recruitment process like?
Candidates are short-listed and undergo an initial screening. Many will then be asked to participate in assessment exercises. Finally, those identified as having potential will be called for an interview. Candidates who fail to make it through the initial screening process may reapply after six months; those who are not successful after the interview may reapply after one year.
If selected to join Emirates as Cabin Crew what medical tests are required?
Two pre-employment medical tests are required: one in your home country at your own expense and one upon arrival in Dubai which will be conducted at the Emirates Group Clinic by doctors qualified in aviation medicine. This is a legal requirement for all Emirates Crew.
What is involved in the training? Where does it take place?
All Cabin Crew recruits go through an initial five-week training course in Dubai, conducted in English at a purpose-built crew training centre that is part of the Emirates Aviation College. Training includes the practical and theoretical aspects of safety, first aid and inflight service on the various aircraft operated by Emirates. The trainees on each course are normally a rich cultural mix. There are regular assessments with stringent pass marks for each module. Hence a high standard of performance and dedication is required.
Do you get paid/compensated and are you provided with company accommodation while training?
Your basic salary is calculated from the first day of joining. Company accommodation is also provided upon your arrival in Dubai.
Are you allocated flights as soon as you join training?
You are given a roster on the day of your graduation at the end of your training. Initially, you will fly as supernumerary so that your performance can be observed and feedback obtained in order to identify any further training needs prior to your first operational flight.
When do you get a roster? How many days off do you get in a month?
Cabin Crew have a monthly roster and have approximately eight days off per month in Dubai.
What are promotions based on?
Cabin Crew promotions are based on assessment of performance.
What is the annual leave policy of the company?
All full-time employees are entitled to paid annual leave. The number of working hours of annual leave provided per calendar year is related to your job grade and is specified in your contract of employment.
What are the career development opportunities within Emirates?
Staff have first opportunity to apply for a vacant position as most of these are advertised internally before being advertised to outside applicants.
Candidates interested in applying for any internal vacancy should meet the following requirements:
• Completion of one year in your current role (position/department).
• The minimum qualifications and experience required for the advertised position.
• The support of your line manager.
What is the probationary period for company employment?
For all positions, the probationary period is six months from the date of joining the company.
What is the Exchange Rate Protection scheme?
UAE-based expatriate employees, irrespective of nationality, grade or position, are covered by the Exchange Rate Protection (ERP) scheme, unless they are from the USA or any country where the currency is fixed against the US dollar.
The ERP scheme is intended to provide reasonable protection if you are adversely affected by exchange rate fluctuations in the currency of your home country or the place of your permanent residence. Your ERP currency will be given as per the country of your Annual Leave Destination, and once your ERP is determined it can never be changed. Under the ERP Scheme, 50 per cent of the net basic salary received each month is protected up to a maximum of 15 per cent.
What is profit share?
If the company achieves its profit target, employees receive a profit share payment. The company’s financial year runs from 1st April to 31st March the following year. The company announces its results – and any profit share to be made - in April for the financial year just ended. The profit share is paid in May. The amount varies from year to year and has ranged from two to 14 weeks of basic salary.
To qualify for the full profit share, you must have been employed for the complete period, 1st April to 31st March. If you joined after the 31st March but before 30th September, you would be entitled to a pro rata amount. If you joined after 30th September, you will have to wait until the next profit share.
Do I pay tax on my salary?
The salary you receive from Emirates is tax free.
Do I need to open a UAE bank account?
Yes, because your salary is paid monthly in UAE dirhams.
What is the procedure for obtaining a UAE driving licence?
Obtaining a UAE driving licence and the costs involved are your responsibility. There many countries which have an agreement with the UAE whereby you can convert your existing driving licence to a UAE driving licence. If you are unable to convert your existing driving licence into a UAE driving licence, then you will have to undergo driving tests conducted by Dubai Police. There are many private driving schools in Dubai and you can register with one of them for driving lessons.

Updated CV (Curriculum Vitae) > Now, on the CV, make it clear and un-cluttered, if you’ve had any previous customer service experience then this is a very good idea to have at the top of your resume. Remember, if you haven’t got any previous customer service experience it is not a problem, you’ll probably strike them with something else ! If they think they can train you in customer service they WILL DO IT !
6 Passport Size Photographs > business attire, neatly groomed, looking gorgeous, no scarfs, light make-up for women, non for men ! and most importantly SMILE (even french citizens should smile on those Passport photos). A genuine smile will make the difference when your file is in that pile.
2 Full Sized (10×15 cm) Photographs in Business Attire > Suit, white shirt, tie and shoes for men / Knee length skirt or dress with skin coloured stockings (no scarf) for women. Those photographs will be presented a round table of judges back in Dubai as per the recruitment officer I had, so keep SMILING, give the best of you !
2 casual Full Sized (10×15 cm) Photographs > those photos must be of you in a natural setting, casually dressed, not smoking nor drinking. Alone is best, if you haven’t got any alone, then ones where the recruitment officer can recognize you.

The meanings of Christmas are many. How brightly they blend into our lives as we share something special all across the miles and years. One of the things that I love about Christmas is seeing the kids with their bright eyes and happy smiles.
In our preschool, we always teach the kids the Christmas Alphabet Song which I am pretty sure you are familiar with. It goes like this:

C is for the candy trimmed around the Christmas tree
H is for the happiness with all the family
R is for the reindeer prancing by the window pane
I is for the icing on the cake as sweet as sugar cane
S is for the stocking on the chimney wall
T is for the toys beneath the tree so tall
M is for the mistletoe where everyone will kissed
A is for the angels who make up the Christmas list
S is for old Santa who makes every kid his pet Be good and he’ll give you everything in your Christmas alphabet

Now that we are older, I realized that my Christmas Alphabet remains the same in some aspects and yet have expanded and deepened in other aspects. I now share to you the reasons why I love Christmas.

I love Christmas because there's plenty of chocolates, candies and the cute vision of little elves carrying candy canes. I love the wonderful feeling of receiving Christmas cards from friends in far away places. In fact, I still have with me a box full of cards that I have received all these years. And I love hearing and singing Christmas carols. I would spend my mornings having my very own personal show - Christmas concerts in the comfort room! Well, the last time I checked, nobody has yet filed a complaint of noise harassment. So I'm safe.

I love Christmas because of holidays and Christmas breaks. Being in a school setting, we don't have problems filing for a leave because we are all forced to have a vacation. Lucky for me! I love Christmas because it's a time to share happiness with those you love, lots of hugs, and to experience hope from heaven above.

I love Christmas because of Rudolph, the red-nose reindeer. He reminds me of everyone who feels odd and different (even feeling left out in many occasions) and yet is special in every way. It makes me recall all the wonderful times when someone kind and caring would reach out and make all the “Rudolphs” in the world feel important.

I love Christmas because of all the sweet things that are there for the taking. There’s plenty of icing on cakes and yummy ice cream. And more importantly, beyond all that is the joy of giving and receiving an inspiration- the sweet nourishment for our hearts and souls.

I love Christmas because of jolly Santa Claus and red stockings hanging on the fireplace as the kids wonder what gifts await them. And no matter how young or old we are, nothing beats the delight of receiving a surprise from others or giving a neat surprise of our own.

I love Christmas because of family traditions – a time to share, to bond and to show how much we care. I love browsing through the toy shops, watching the twinkling lights and watching kids running around the Christmas trees.

I love Christmas because of baby Jesus in the manger, of mothers, fathers and wonderful memories (like attending mass where we prayed as one family) to warm the heart. I love Christmas because of the gift of miracles when God sent his son to remind us that there will always be peace found in His love.

I love Christmas because of angels of heaven and earth. Angels who touch, guide and inspire us in the little and big ways. Angels in the form of a pet, a child, a friend, a family member, even a stranger on the street. Angels are among us.

I love Christmas because it makes me smile as I sing songs and share stories all night long. When I look up at the sky, I smile as I see the stars up above for I remember a long time ago, love came down on Christmas day and changed my life.

Why flying on Christmas Day is great

MOST people would never dream of flying on Christmas Day.
Who could think of anything worse than spending one of the best days of the year on a bum-numbing flight or battling through customs and immigration?

And imagine the expense. Everyone knows that buying a flight at Christmas requires the finances of an Arab Emirate.

Or does it?

We checked the prices for a return to London in mid-December on four major carriers – Qantas, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates and Singapore Airlines – and found fares ranging from $2600 to $3300.

Depart on Christmas Eve, however, and all the fares dived by $200-$350. Leave on Christmas Day and you could have an extra $600 in your pocket to spend in the January sales.

According to Lisa Ferrari, general manager of travel.com.au, another potential bonus of flying on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day is that there are less business-class travellers, so there’s a better chance of getting upgraded.

But what’s it like travelling on Christmas Day?

Fantastic. Last December I left Sydney on Christmas Eve and landed at London’s Heathrow Airport at 5am on Christmas Day and I can honestly say it was one of the best flight experiences I’ve had.

Leaving on Christmas Eve meant I could indulge in all of the Aussie festive season shenanigans that I’d normally miss out on by flying in early December. And by the time I jumped in a cab to the airport, I could think of nothing more appealing than sleeping and watching movies for 24 hours.

Sydney airport was quiet. No queues, no hassles from Customs, no stress. And there was an infectious festive buzz about the place (yes, they are human).

People were flying home to see family, to catch up with friends, to see loved ones. It was Christmas. I was excited. It was all I could do to stop myself hugging random people in the departure lounge.

Christmas cheer and tears

The flight from Sydney to Hong Kong was uneventful and after a brief transit we set off for London. Shortly after takeoff there was an announcement on the PA: “Hello everyone, this is your captain speaking. Just to let you know that it is now officially Christmas Day. Happy Christmas to you all.” I almost burst into tears (I get quite emotional at Christmas).

The cabin crew adorned themselves with reindeer antlers and tinsel and served us champagne and a Christmas dinner. The flight was busy but not full and everyone said cheers to their neighbours and wished them a Happy Christmas. It was a genuinely lovely atmosphere.

The biggest surprise, however, was still to come. Normally, negotiating Heathrow Airport would be right up there with putting together flat-pack furniture and removing my own tonsils as one of my least favourite experiences.

But on Christmas morning it was a revelation. It was deserted. I thought there had been a bomb scare or some sort of military coup. There were no queues at immigration and my bag appeared in record time.

My father was coming to pick me up and traditionally spotting him in the Beirut-like carnage that is the Heathrow arrivals hall is like a particularly tricky game of Where’s Wally. But there he was – a little bleary eyed from his 4am start – but one of only a few dozen people there.

A jet-lagged induced coma

The final instalment in this mind-wrecking saga was driving for a full three minutes along the M25 without passing another car. It’s a sight I may never see again. Looking back, I should have videoed it and put it on YouTube.

After getting back to my parents’ house at 7am, Christmas Day panned out like all Christmas Days do. I ate too much, drank too much and was in a jet-lagged induced coma in front of the TV with a half empty tin of Quality Street on my lap by 3pm. It was brilliant.

So, if you’re thinking of travelling somewhere this Christmas, look at the option of flying on Christmas Day. It’ll probably be cheaper than flying earlier in December and it’ll be an experience you’ll talk about for years.

If you’re a Christmas junkie you can even arrange to have two of them. Spend Christmas Day at home with the family and then hop on a flight to the US and you’ll arrive in the afternoon where you can do it all again.

Double for Your Trouble

"Because you got a double dose of trouble and more than your share of contempt, your inheritance in the land will be doubled and your joy go on forever" (Isaiah 61:7, The Message).

When this scripture was written, God's people were going through a very difficult time. They were being held captive against their will and mistreated by other nations. God sent this word to encourage them and give them hope for their future. To make a really long story short, in the end, God was faithful to His Word. He restored double to His people and filled them with everlasting joy.

Maybe your circumstances aren't quite like what they were going through, but every person goes through disappointments, setbacks, and things that don't seem to make sense. Even when you are doing all the right things, sometimes the wrong thing happens anyway. It's easy to get discouraged and think, "Why did this happen to me?" "Why did my loved one not make it?" "Why did this person treat me wrong?" "Why did I get laid off?" I had a man tell me that he lost his job after many years with his former company. He just didn't understand it. He said, "I gave them my best. I was always on time; I was loyal—it's just not fair." We have to understand that even when life is not fair, God is always fair. He is always with us in our darkest hour, and He is working behind the scenes to deliver us and restore hope for our future. That disappointment is not the end; your life doesn't stop because of one setback. No, God has an amazing future in store for you if you'll take Him by the hand and let Him lead you to a place of safety and rest.

Just like God's Word brought encouragement to the Israelites so many years ago, let this word bring encouragement to you, too because God is working on your behalf. He wants to give you double for your trouble! You may be thinking you've wasted years of your life in the wrong career or associating with the wrong people, but God is saying, "I can restore those years." You may think that it's been too long, you've been through too much, and you're never going to see those new seasons of increase, but God can make up for that lost time. Why don't you be bold and ask Him to give you back every opportunity that you've missed? He may not always do it in the way you expect, but open your heart and mind to the possibilities. Be ready to embrace the opportunities God will bring across your path. When God brings restoration, He's not just going to repay you for every wrong done, He's going to go above and beyond and make things even better than they were before.

If you are facing challenges today or going through a time of adversity, remember, it's always darkest just before the dawn appears. Your days are destined to shine brighter because God is faithful. Trust that He is working behind the scenes on your behalf and for your good! As you stay in faith and are obedient to His Word, you'll receive double for your trouble and see His promises come to pass!

Love waits

It can be so easy once you really love to be patient and kind like the Bible says to be, often times people wonder will we survive or will we go under due to all the hate in this world. I can't answer that for sure, but what I can do is try to help you understand what it means to live a life full of patience, kindness, and joy that overwhelms everything else. That is what 1 Corinthians 13 speaks about here in the Bible; this is what that verse, chapter, and passage means to quote the poem so often used. Have you read the poems and poetry around this wonderful set of verses in the Bible?

So many people quote love is patient love is kind, but they never know exactly what it is that they are talking about. I challenge you to know these verses, and to not just quote them when it is easy to say, but to actually live by these principles outlined in Corinthians. Faith, hope, and what else? It may sound small but living a life full of faith and hope is just as simple. It takes practice and it takes devotion, a kind of devotion that walks the talk and walks it out each and every day. Not just a plaque up in your living room, or a love is patient love is kind picture frame in your office, but a true lifestyle change that you decide to make from day 1. Love is patient and love is kind, it really is and will always have to be.

Life is one of those things that reminds you sometimes how lucky we are to be alive. Frankly I have no idea what it means anymore to love, I thought I did once upon a time, but patience and kindness reminds you that each day you are blessed to be alive. So what exactly is kind, and how do you know who is kind in your life? These people are very easy to spot trust me, they will show you unconditional feelings of joy no matter the circumstances. I guess that is what makes life so special, surrounding yourself with people who are full of love and kindness in everything that they do. You know what I'm talking about here? No matter how mean or rude you are, they are just nothing but kind to you. They care about you and love you with the full force of emotion they are capable of. Deep-Fried Turkey Recipe

The turkey is fried whole in a fraction of the time it takes to bake, resulting in a brown and crispy skin and tender meat. Never use a turkey fryer indoors, under a covered patio, or in a garage due to potential fire hazard.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour

Total Time: 1 hour, 10 minutes

Ingredients:

4 to 5 gallons vegetable oil
1 whole turkey (12 to 15 pounds), at room temperature
Cayenne pepper (optional)

Preparation:

You will need an outdoor cooker (suggested size is 140,000 Btu) and a 10-gallon pot, preferably one with a basket insert (available in hardware stores and stores where outdoor equipment is sold). The insert keeps the bird off the bottom of the pot and facilitates removing it from the oil.

Begin heating the oil in a 10-gallon pot over a very hot propane flame outdoors to 390 degrees F. Don't set the burner to its highest setting, as you may need to increase the heat after you've added the turkey. It will take about 20 minutes for the oil to heat.

Meanwhile, rinse the turkey well, pat it dry inside and out, and set it on end in a sink to drain.

When the oil reaches 375 degrees F., pat the turkey dry again, and sprinkle it with cayenne, if desired. If your cooker has a basket insert, place the turkey in the basket and set it over a baking sheet; if not, set an oven rack over a large baking sheet, place the turkey on it, and take them outside to the cooker.

Check the temperature of the oil. When the oil reaches 390 degrees F., carefully and slowly lower the basket with the turkey into the oil; or lower it holding it by its legs or by a long heavy tool such as a clean fireplace poker inserted into its cavity. Be careful! Immediately check the oil temperature and adjust the flame so that the temperature does not dip below 340 degrees F. You want to maintain the temperature at 365 degrees F. As it cooks, occasionally move the bird around in the oil so that it does not scorch (the oil near the heat source will be hotter).

Whole turkeys take only 3 to 4 minutes per pound to fry to perfection: small ones, around 12 pounds, will take about 35 minutes; large ones, around 15 pounds, will take about 1 hour. When it is done, the turkey will float to the surface with a perfectly crispy, brown skin. If you are unsure, you can test the meat for doneness at the hip joint or insert a meat thermometer into the breast; it should register 180 degrees F.

Using the basket insert if there is one, or by again inserting a long heavy tool such as a clean fireplace poker into its cavity, carefully remove the turkey from the oil and hold it over the pot for a moment to allow any excess oil to drain back into the pot, then lay the bird on the oven rack.

Allow it to rest for 20 minutes before carving.

Yield: 20 servings

"Whole fried turkey is the best illustration I know of just how delicious and greaseless fried food can be. I bet that once you've tried it fried, you'll never go back to roast turkey. While the turkey is resting, take advantage of the big pot of oil to fry something else, like French fries. You can serve the turkey as the center of a big meal, such as Thanksgiving dinner; it will only take about an hour from setup to serving. Or you can have your guests make turkey or club sandwiches, and serve them with fries."

If the saying rings true, “All good things come to those who wait,” why is that we have such a hard time being patient? Our society is routinely looking to make things quicker, more convenient, or even faster if it means that it gives them some extra time. From drive-thru coffee houses to drop off pharmacies our culture has become crazed with impatience.

The bible is the real guide. The bible is full of love stories. Matthew 10:33 says: But whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my father who is in heaven. Anywehere, you'd look in the bible you will find some great love stories. 

Even as my generation has cultivated and developed accordingly, why does it seem like we aren’t getting where we want fast enough? We spend our whole lives waiting to be at the next turn in the road. We can’t wait to start driving, we can’t wait to graduate high school, we can’t wait to finish college; then it’s our careers, waiting to begin a family, and then counting down the days to retirement. We spend our lives waiting and waiting.

I have to wonder though, if we spend so much time and waste so much emotion trying to get ahead, have we ever really lived our lives or rather just been waiting around for life to happen? My suggestion would be to enjoy yourself where you’re at, because just because tomorrow doesn’t seem to arrive fast enough, it still always comes.

The Open House Interview for flight attendant jobs (also called Open Day Interview Session or Job Fair) is a general information session for you and gives the airline a chance to screen a large group of potential candidates at one location.

Sessions are scheduled after successful completion of an online prescreening (invited) or may be open to anyone (uninvited). Open House dates are usually published on the airlines website.

There is normally a morning and afternoon session. If there is a choice, we recommend scheduling the morning session, since interviewers are freshest and friendliest in the morning.

At the Open Session, typically you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire and will be given a short speech about the airline by a flight attendant representative. Each person may be then be required to take a written, multiple-choice test, which includes some customer service questions. Those that pass the test will be asked to remain while the others are excused.

The remaining group will be asked to speak or read in front of the group. Usually, the topic deals in some way with customer service. Resumes or applications are usually not collected at the Open House. Most successful candidates are advised during this session of their advancement to a second interview, although airlines have also been advising some candidates by mail. There are sometimes individual interviews at the Open House session.

They are seeking professionals who can adapt to a new environment and can provide excellent service as part of a team of people with different cultural backgrounds.

Need people who have the following:
• A positive attitude and empathy for others
• A minimum age of 21 years on joining
• A minimum arm reach of 212 cms when standing on tip toes so that you can reach emergency equipment on all aircraft types
• Tattoos are not permissible on any part of the body where the tattoo would be visible in uniform. Bandaging is not permitted
• Education to high school standard at least
• Physical fitness sufficient to meet aircrew requirements
• Fluency in written and spoken English (fluency in another language is an asset)

I consider myself a well-experienced cabin crew interviewee. Having sat five assessments interviews I think I know a little about the process to help guide others!

The cabin crew interview is like no other interview, partly a modelling contest (for some airlines, particularly the Middle East ones) partly a social event (you are expected to get on well with the other candidates!) and partly an interview. Thousands of people apply to be cabin crew every year, if you are invited to an interview, well done! You did well to reach this stage.

Most interviews are assessment centres and either at an airline HQ or a hotel near the airport. Depending on the airline you may be sitting maths and English tests, language tests, group tasks and finally the dreaded two to one interview! You can expect to take about 3 hours in total.

The best advice I would give would be to prepare. To start with make sure you are wearing a smart suit and a well-ironed shirt. Ladies, a skirt suit may be a wise option, make sure you have your hair up and are well groomed with nice make-up and manicured nails. Appearance is important, the British airlines won't mind a couple of spots and you don't need to be a model just well presented, clean and tidy. You get grooming lessons during training as well so don't panic!

The Middle East airlines are a bit more fussy, in my interview the woman even asked me about my current job. Some airlines like Qatar Airways even inspect your teeth and skin and nails at the interview! Emira airlines prefer to focus more on personality and customer service experience, which is how I think it, should be…we're not living in the golden era of flying anymore and looks are not everything!

It may be an idea to go to the library and get a book out on interview techniques. Some examples of the questions you may face:

How much do you know about the airline, where did you do your research, what are the challenges facing the airline at the moment?

How have you dealt with cultural differences?

How have you dealt with a time when there was a problem with someone you worked with?

What makes a team successful?

When have you been upset at work?

Tell me about dealing with an angry person.

When have you provided good customer service?

Why do you want to be cabin crew?

How do you integrate yourself in a team?

When have you been thrown in the deep end?

When have you dealt with someone from a different ethnic background

As you can see, you need to be well prepared and prove to the interviewers that you are a friendly and caring person, can handle difficult situations in a competent manner, can communicate well and are a good team player. You must really sell yourself!

The group tasks can be quite challenging. It can consist of a task such as making a paper tower. You need to prove to the assessors that you can work well, listen to others and achieve the goal. Make sure you get to say your points but don't disagree or argue with your team members. Just say something like 'that's a great idea, what about if we do it like this…what do you all think?' Use people's names too (you all wear name badges.) Try and get yourself heard without being loud or bossy and include the quieter members of the group.

Make sure you plan your journey to the venue and leave plenty of time. Smile a LOT and talk to other candidates. Be positive and never say anything bad about current or former employees.

My fourth airline interview was for a Middle East based airline, Emirates Airlines, it was at a hotel near Garulhos and I had to sit in a room with other girls and guys waiting for 90 minutes, it certainly tested my patience! Unlike my other assessment centres this consisted of a 30-minute panel interview. My height and weight were taken and I was asked questions such as how did I feel moving abroad, why did I want to be crew, what did I know about the airline and when had a dealt with a difficult situation. I also had to introduce myself and I felt that it wasn't going too well but I managed to keep smiling and remain calm and poised even when the perfect looking stewardess (dressed immaculately in her uniform) asked me what I was thinking at that moment. She wasn't being nasty I hasten to point out but when you apply for these airlines based abroad you must realise they have high grooming standards. No British airline would ever ask you such a personal question. Just was being friendly.

Please don't let it upset you, that is the culture out there and they are not saying it to be nasty.

In the interview I also had to walk up and down and the stewardess interviewing me called out 'big smile!' at one point!

After my other two interviews for Qatar, it seemed quite funny, me and another girl caught the bus back to my house together and we laughed quite a bit!

If you really want the job my advice would be to go to as many interviews as possible. If you are getting to the interview stage you are doing something right. I've been to 4 Interviews for Emirates, I know many crew members who went to several interviews before they were successful including one lady who applied to EK seven times before she got accepted.

Emirates Opening Day is where you'd join all the other interested applicants for a walk-in inteview. On that day, you'll need to bring a full-length picture, passport size picture and fill up an application form. After that, you'll be called into a room with a few candidates (about 8-12) for a group discussion. They'll give you a topic where you have to discuss in a group. (*Take note* - Do NOT speak too much nor speak TOO little. Never ask someone to follow your point of view! What they want is someone who listens well). After the group discussion, you will be asked to wait in a room with the rest before they annouced the results whether you get into the next level which is 2nd interview (Screening and Assesment Day) at a later date.

2nd interview (Screening and Assesment Day) consist of 3 rounds (which is pretty long from 9am-6pm, if you manage to succeed all 3 rounds ).

1st round: Group discussion and then 1st elimination. 2nd round: English test 1 hour (passing mark is 32/40 if you are singaporean or malaysian) consist of MCQ questions and Essay and then 2nd elimination . 3rd round: Group discussion (again) and then 3rd elimination.

If and suceed all the 3 rounds, you'll be given a date to choose for your FINAL interview where 2 interviewers to 1.

From then, you'll need to prepare and give 2 referrences email add( Must be your current and previous job superiors), 1x full length picture, 6 passport pictures, 2x causual pictures, a photocopy letter of current employer (proof that you're working for the company. Payslip is alright though), photocopies of your educational certs and a photocopy of your passport revelant pages to the final interview.

Final interview last about 30mins-1hr. Emirates final interview is pretty different from most airlines's interview. Different candidates will be asked different questions..so there's no point asking other candidates. The questions they'll ask are most likely about your past and present job experiences, how you handled difficult situations..etc. Remember, do NOT lie during the interview or make up fake situations/scenerios. You can be a great story-maker but they'll know.

You will be notified in 4-6 weeks time from the date of your final interview. If you are selected, you'll need to go through medical test.

Do not hog the lounge chairs. Every morning an invisible cadre of passengers piles towels and personal belongings on chaise lounges by the pool to save them for later. This is extremely selfish behavior.

Do not save seats. Do save a seat for your spouse or traveling companion, but do not try to save entire rows of seats in the show lounge or complete tables in the casual dining area.

Control your children. For their safety—and the safety of others—children shouldn't be allowed to roam freely around the ship, run around the swimming pool, splash water on other passengers, cavort in the hot tubs, or play in the elevators. Do not allow your children to intrude in adults-only spaces. Some parents are in total denial when it comes to the unruly actions of their children (the disruptive kids can't be theirs).

Be a considerate smoker. Those who smoke should light up their cigarettes, cigars, and pipes only in areas clearly approved for that purpose.

Do not jog before daybreak. It should be obvious that if there are cabins located below the deck where jogging is permitted, then passengers are probably still asleep in them. Run only during the hours indicated in the daily program.

Be mindful of others in the spa and gym. Wear appropriate workout attire and wipe down the equipment when you are finished using it. Take your turn in a reasonable amount of time.

Turn down the sound. Portable electronics are wonderful gadgets, but not everyone has the same musical taste as you. In public areas, music players should be used with headphones. When using two-way radios and cell phones, it's seldom necessary to shout.

Await your turn. Events and activities are scheduled in a certain way for a purpose, including the orderly filling of shore tenders and the disembarkation procedure at the end of the cruise. Do not be in such a hurry that you compromise safety.

Do not complain while you wait. No one cares to listen to grumbling and whining. It's a vacation, so lighten up and go with the flow.

Listen and follow instructions. This is never more important than during the muster drill! Listening can ensure your safety in case of an emergency.

Don't forget that the three Cs at sea—Consideration, Courtesy, and Civility—are your guideposts. And don't forget to bring along a pleasant attitude, your sunniest smile, and good manners.

The beach is beautiful except that you can't close
your eyes because then jaguars will eat your face.

One of the thorniest and most difficult things we humans are ever called upon to do is to respond to evil with kindness, and to forgive the unforgivable. We love to read stories about people who have responded to hatred with love, but when that very thing is demanded of us personally, our default seems to be anger, angst (dread or anguish), depression, righteousness, hatred, etc. Yet study after study shows that one of the keys to longevity and good health is to develop a habit of gratitude and let go of past hurts.

Want to live a long, happy life? Forgive the unforgivable. It really is the kindest thing you can do for yourself. Your enemy may not deserve to be forgiven for all the pain and sadness and suffering purposefully inflicted on your life, butyou deserve to be free of this evil. As Ann Landers often said, "hate is like an acid. It destroys the vessel in which it is stored."

Realize that the hate you feel toward your enemy does not harm him or her in the slightest. Chances are, your enemy has gone on with life and hasn't given you another thought. "Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for it to kill your enemy." - Nelson Mandela.

Understand that the best revenge against your enemies is to live a successful and happylife. Want to get even with someone who tried to destroy you? Show them and show yourself (and the world) that the obstacles they tried to create were not significant enough to disable you and/or destroy you.

Realize that the second best revenge is to turn the evil into something good, to find the proverbial silver lining in the dark cloud. Think of your enemy as someone who has helped you to grow. Even though unfortunate things happen to us, the best thing we can do is take those opportunities as tests that will either destroy or strengthen us. If you've been through something, it didn't destroy you - take what you learned and become a better person because of it.

Look at the situation from an eagle's eye.
Make a list of the good things that emerged as a result of this awful experience. You've probably focused long enough on the negative parts of this experience. Look at the problem from a completely new angle; look at the positive side. The first item on that list may be long overdue because you have focused on the negative for so long. See if you can identify 10 positive outcomes of this experience.

Look for the helpers. Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers) related that, as a little boy, he'd often become upset about major catastrophes in the news. His mother would tell him, "look for the helpers." In your own nightmarish experience, think back to the people who helped you. Think about their kindness and unselfishness. Practice what you have learned from them.

Look at the bigger picture. Was someone your "Good Samaritan"? In this biblical story, a traveler happens to come across a poor soul who was beaten up on the road to Jericho and left for dead. It's a lot easier to play the part of the Good Samaritan than to be the poor soul who is left bleeding and bruised on the side of the road. Perhaps this isn't all about you. Perhaps your trial provided an opportunity for others to rise to an occasion to provide you with help and support.

Be compassionate with yourself. If you've ruminated over this problem for a long time, steering this boat into a new direction could take some time, too. As you try to make a new path out of the dark woods of this old hurt, you'll make mistakes. Forgive yourself. Be patient and kind to yourself. Extreme emotional pain has a profound effect on the body. Give yourself time to heal - physically and emotionally. Eat well. Rest. Focus on the natural beauty in the world. Give yourself permission to feel the emotions and process them. Don't bottle up the pain.

Learn that the Aramaic word for "forgive" means literally to "untie." The fastest way to free yourself from an enemy and all associated negativity is to forgive. Untie the bindings and loosen yourself from that person's ugliness. Your hatred has tied you to the person responsible for your pain. Your forgiveness enables you to start walking away from him or her and the pain. Forgiveness is for you and not the other party. Freeing yourself through forgiveness is like freeing yourself from chains of bondage or from prison.

Learn how to balance trust with wisdom. It's a fact that not all of our fellow humans are trustworthy. Painful memories can serve to protect us from future hurts. As author Rose Sweet writes, "A lack of trust is sometimes simply recognizing another's limitations".^[1]
- Forgiveness is not acceptance of wrong behavior. If you must continue to interact with someone who has wronged you, who has offered a lame apology only to follow it up with more bad behavior, nothing requires you to trust such a person. This person isn't likely to ever be trustworthy -- you must keep a distance. While it's fruitless to torment yourself over this person's actions, you should not be his or her willing victim. Acknowledge; move on.
- An offender who wants reconciliation must do his or her part: offer a sincere apology, promise not to repeat the offense (or similar ones), make amends, and give it time. If you don't see repentance, understand that according forgiveness to that person is a benefit to yourself, not to the offender.
- Unless those who have harmed us have truly repented of whatever they have done, we need to use wisdom in avoiding repeating the hurt. This may require avoiding those who are unrepentant of the harm that they have inflicted upon us. It would be wise to balance forgiveness against the certain knowledge that evil exists, and some people enjoy harming others.

Stop telling "the story." How many times this week did you tell "the story" about how badly you were hurt and how horribly you were wronged? How many times a day do you think about this hurt? It is a stake driven into the ground that keeps you from moving away from this hurt. Rather, forgive your enemy because it's the kindest thing you can do for your friends and family. Negativity is depressing - physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.

Tell "the story" from the other person's perspective. Actually imagine that you are the other person (the one who offended you) and use the word "I" when saying what that person would say. You, most likely, don't know exactly what s/he was thinking when this event unfolded but pretend that you do, and just go with the story that comes up in your head. Sit down with a friend, or maybe even the person you are trying to forgive, and tell the story as though you are that person. It is important to do this verbally and not just in your head. Realize in advance that this is not an easy exercise, but it holds great power. Your willingness to tell the story from the offender's perspective requires an effort at forgiveness. Also, realize that this is not a contradiction to the preceding paragraph since this perspective will change your story.

Peace, peace
Retrain your thinking. When your enemy and his or her evil actions come to mind, send him or her a blessing.Wish your enemy well. Hope the best for him or her. This has two effects. One, it neutralizes that acid of hate that destroys the vessel in which it is stored. The evil we wish for another seems to have a rebound effect. The same is true for the good that we wish for another. When you make yourself able to return blessing for hatred, you'll know that you're well on the path to wholeness. The first 15 - or 150 - times you try this, the "blessing" may feel contrived, empty, and even hypocritical but keep trying. Eventually, it will become a new habit and soon thereafter, the anger and pain that has burned in your heart will evaporate, like dew in the morning sun. This technique forces your mind to overcome the cognitive dissonance between hating someone and acting with compassion toward him or her. Since there is no way to take back the kind gesture to agree with your hatred, the only thing your mind can do is change your belief about the person to match. You will begin to say to yourself, "S/he is deserving of a blessing, and indeed, must need one very much."

Maintain perspective: While the "evil" actions of your "enemy" are hurtful to you and your immediate surroundings, the rest of the world goes on unaware. Validate their meaning in your life, but never lose perspective that others are not involved and do not deserve anything to be taken out on them. Your enemy is someone else's beloved child, someone's employee, or a child's parent.

Put your best mental energies (perhaps first thing in the morning) into visualizing the new life you want. See yourself - in the future - as free of this pain and suffering.

Sometimes it helps to think of how others have forgiven under incredible circumstances. Ask friends for support and examples to motivate you toward forgiveness.
Forgiveness is a choice. When you say, "I can't forgive that person," what you're really saying is, "I'mchoosing not to forgive that person." If you say it the second way instead, you'll find yourself forgiving soon.

Warnings

True forgiveness is unconditional and not predicated on any act or request from the offender. The type of forgiveness discussed here is intended to free you from the impotent rage, depression, and despair that nursing a grievance causes.

Forgiveness is hard, but living with a grudge is even harder. Keeping grudges bottled up can be very dangerous, and can hurt people in ways you might have not imagined.

I came across this post called “The Top 20 Reasons Not to Move to Dubai (in no particular order!)” on the Net and felt that it did a pretty-good job of Dubai-bashing without necessarily substantiating everything objectively and looking at the pros. It’s a given that Dubai also has its weaknesses and flaws, but doesn’t every other place on earth? It’s important to look at the big picture and see how much this great city has also achieved in such a short span of time!

I, like most other expatriates have come to Dubai looking for good job opportunities, a decent standard of living and security. I think the city does a pretty good job of offering that to most people who’ve moved here for the right reasons and in the right frame of mind…! It would be naive to expect everything would be perfect and that everyone who comes to Dubai, like any other expat destination would be entirely happy. Hey – I have some issues that I’m particulary pleased about, but then again it all depends on your alternatives! If I have similar or other problems back home I have no right to gripe…and if conditions are better back home, why move in the first place?

Firstly, let’s take a look at the top 20 reasons not to move to Dubai taken from the article mentioned above and see if they hold any water (You can find and read the whole article here):

No standard address system making mail-to-the door delivery impossible.
True, but this applies to a lot of other developing and emerging countries – definitely was not on my checklist when choosing to move to Dubai for a good job and life outside work.
The government blocks websites & telephony.
Again, true – but working online in Dubai for over a year, haven’t experienced any significant problems with what I need to get done, despite being a very active user. Granted, it would be nice if some social networks and sites weren’t blocked, but totally get the cultural reasons. Telephony blockage – agree, would be nice to save a little when making calls back home.
It is really hot outside.
In Summer – yes! But how long do people actually spend outside? It can be quite pleasant throughout the year…and winter isn’t too cold. Dubai actually gets a lot of tourism just because of the weather and beaches!
There are too few trees, plants, and grass – or living things aside from us crazy humans, for that matter.
Considering that this was barren desert a decade or two ago, what has been achieved in terms of landscaping and beautification is amazing! The amount of money spent in Dubai on irrigation and making real estate where expats live is just mind-blowing. And yes, there are other living things to be found…including birds!
This country prides itself so much on its glitz and glamour that it put a picture of its 7-star hotel on the license plate. Yet, the public toilets in the king-of-bling Gold Souk district are holes in the ground with no toilet paper or soap
Cultures differ. Not every nook and crany in a city can be spotless… not even in the developed world! Get used to it. This part of the world uses water hoses in the rest rooms – its not crazy – its more hygienic and just different. You cant change the world and it’s people to suit your comfort zone!
This country encourages businesses to hire people from other poor countries to come here and work.
So does every other country on the planet. This is an economic and societal trend that is as old as humanity. People will always go where they can enjoy better earnings so they can improve their personal standards of living or in warmer cultures, the standards of their families first. All the wonders of the world were built on slave labour – it should not be condoned and it just isn’t right that half the world lives in poverty – but what are we actually doing about it besides the rhetoric and the exclamations of disgust? Why pinpoint just one city or one country when the world still hasn’t come to grips with this issue and the biggest offenders are often the most developed?
Things are not cheaper here.
No one claims they are – it just depends on where you come from and what your lifestyle is like.
There are traffic cameras everywhere.
Yep. It’s a nuisance but it’s probably saved a lot of lives, given the great roads, cheap fuel, big & sporty cars and the tendency to enjoy the thrills of speed when given the chance.
The clothing some of these women wear makes no sense to me.
Culture evolves too. And not everyone feels opressed when following tradition. People drive change when they make up their mind to.
People stare at you.
??? Is the generalization necessary? Over 80% of Dubai’s population is comprised of expats – it’s hard to believe that every good looking woman in the city gets stared at?
Prostitutes?
Don’t support it either. But it is the ‘oldest profession in the world’ for a reason. There’s no way to curb it – it’ll always be present, only the visibility and access varies wherever you go. Can be avoided and certainly not on the checklist when deciding whether to move to a new country or city.
Alcohol can only be sold in hotels and a handful of private clubs / liquor licenses.
Dubai happens to be one of the more liberal Islamic countries in the region and most expats enjoy the freedoms afforded compared to say, living in Saudi Arabia or Qatar, where the controls are even more rigid.
Approval to obtain a liquor license, rent property, have a telephone, etc.
Agree on this one – it IS limiting to expats, at least mentally, even though most employers wouldn’t have any problems with their workers getting any of these as long as they can afford it. Perhaps a way to control on defaulting, given the high percentage of expat labour in the country.
Back to the craziness on the roads: Seatbelts
A personal choice of everyone who steps into a car. Level of law enforcement varies on this issue, of course.
When is the weekend again?
Get out of your comfort zone and deal with the fact that you’re actually in a different part of the world!
There are few satellite television operators
And growing… for those who live for the Idiot Box. Enough said.
The roads are horribly designed.
Layout and access is improving – construction standards and quality of roads cannot be faulted however. A recent report said that the RTA in Dubai is planning to spend approximately 44 Billion UAE Dirhams building roads to meet the infrstructure demands in Dubai over the next decade. The city has grown tremendously over the last 5 – 10 years and the growth pains are natural.
Taxi drivers are dangerous and smell.
Not only is this ‘reason’ racist but also extremely biased and ignorant.
Speeding is an Emirati sport and Emirates Road is just an extension of the Dubai Autodrome.
Hence the radars.
Dubai is far from environmentally friendly.
True. Another growth pain from the rapid development and focus on economy. Possibly also stemming from the richness of natural resources and fuel in the region – less of a reason to conserve, but sure it will come.

The idea of the points above is not to get back at the author of the original post – everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course, and making choices based on the same. However, I do cringe when I see lists like this and the objectivity of it all. It’s important to understand the true nature and background of why things are the way they are before drawing judgement and misleading others in the process.

SÃO PAULO, Brazil—Dilma Rousseff, a 62-year-old former leftist guerilla-turned-powerful cabinet minister, was elected Brazil's first female president in a victory sealed by economic prosperity and the broad popularity of her predecessor and mentor, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

With 96% of the votes counted, Ms. Rousseff won 55.7% of the votes, compared with 44.3% for rival, José Serra, a former São Paulo governor, in a two-candidate runoff election. In early October, Ms. Rousseff won a multi-candidate first-round contest but failed to garner the 50% of votes needed to avoid a second round.

How to Create Beautiful Pumpkin Luminaries

The power of your drill makes this even easier that carving a traditional Jack-o'-lantern

Introduction

1. Hollow out your pumpkin

Use a knife to carve a large circular opening into the bottom of your pumpkin. Clean out the inside thoroughly, scooping away the pulp and seeds with a spoon.

2. Transfer your pattern

Rough out a design on paper first, then mark the dots on the pumpkin with a permanent marker. Try a swirling or geometric design, or randomly space dots on the pumpkin shell.

3. Drill holes in the pumpkin

Gripping the gourd securely near the stem and using a drill/driver, bore holes where you made markings. Be sure to hollow out all the dots you drew for your pattern.

4. Pop in the lights

Insert a string of small lights through the pumpkin's bottom and push a bulb halfway through each hole. Run the lights' cord from the bottom of the gourd to an outdoor receptacle.

Sure, you rely on it to hang shelves and assemble furniture, but your drill is also the key to turning the pumpkins on your doorstep into out-of-the-ordinary Halloween luminaries. Studded with tiny bulbs in swirling or geometric designs, the gourds shown here make brilliant use of white and orange outdoor Christmas lights (for the most bang for your buck, use energy-efficient LED bulbs)—plus they look far more sophisticated than the average toothy jack-o'-lantern. Come trick-or-treat time, simply plug this crop into your nearest power outlet to illuminate even the blackest night.

I love to cook it for my friends. It's really nice when some of my friends comes over for Breakfast in a bright morning . Usually I cook eggs accompanied by a really nice low fat sandwich. Recipe. All four members attended college together and that was when they decided begin a band. When they started the band they had the intention of mixing vocals, guitars and melodies. Almost all of their songs are a mix of electronic music and regular punk pop. Fans of the band not only reside in ~~heaven because they all died of cancer~~ the members home town of São Paulo, but all of Brazil. OK. STOPP right here.

Because some things are worth more than a box of cereal

Hi. I’m about to overstep my boundaries. You might want to back away slowly because I don’t usually do this and I might get blood on you.

Okay, I’m pissed. Legitimately, ridiculously, slightly irrationally pissed.

A few minutes ago I got a pitch from a company who wanted me to write a review for their cereal on my blog. And they would pay me. In cereal. Two boxes of cereal, specifically. Except that the cereal wouldn’t actually go to me. It would be used as a giveaway. To promote their cereal. On my blog. Because as a blogger I’m so desperate for material that I will happily regurgitate any commercial bullshit that anyone puts in front of me. Apparently.

I’m really struggling with writing this because I fully believe that people should be able to write whatever they want but if you as a blogger are accepting a box of cereal as payment for helping to grow a commercial ad campaign then you are undervaluing us all. Companies have advertising budgets and some of those companies spend that money on Maicon Soares. And those companies should be applauded for helping to grow our community and for giving Maicon Soares the same respect that you would give to any other profession. Other companies give their advertising budgets to PR firms who are paid quite well to get Maicon Soares and other outlets to advertise the product in exchange for cereal. I can almost guarantee you that none of the PR people who contact you are working for cereal. In fact, let’s explore that scenario…

Cereal company: Hi! We need a large, professional PR campaign so we’d like you to contact everyone on your mailing list with a pitch about our product, where you can buy it, and also convince them to write all about it on their personal blogs. For cereal. And we’ll pay you! In cereal.

PR Company: What the fuck..?

Cereal company: But you can’t eat the cereal. You have to give it away to someone else.

PR company: Right. Is this a joke?

Cereal company: No! It’s real! You get two boxes of cereal!

PR Company: Um…we don’t work for cereal. We all have mortgages. And…desk payments.

Cereal company: The cereal is worth FIVE DOLLARS!

PR company: Is there something wrong with you? Because we’d like to tell you to fuck off but we’re afraid to because we think you might be mentally unbalanced.

Cereal company: YOU CAN BUY THIS CEREAL AT SAFEWAY!!!

PR Company: Never contact us again.

Look, I’m not saying that there aren’t good PR companies out there or that if you review products you’re a bad blogger or that writing about a product that you honestly love is bad. It’s great, in fact. Write about what you love. Write about who you are. Write things that are worthy of you and of your audience. Because your voice is worth more than a goddamn box of cereal.

And don’t let anyone ever tell you any different.
